A new Russian-made passenger plane went missing over mountains in western Indonesia while on a demonstration flight for potential buyers. What is more mysterious than the sudden disappearance of this plane is that the passenger count on board continues to rise.

The Irish Times in their initial report stated that there were 44 passengers on the plane when it vanished. The Herald Sun reported this:
  • Sukhoi Superjet-100, with 44 people on board, disappears
  • The plane may have been hijacked or crashed into mountain
  • Efforts to reach those on board by phone also failed

Then in the same story by the Herald Sun, merely one paragraph later, they raise the number of passengers to 46.

A few hours later both Fox News and Yahoo! News reported the number of passengers on board as being 50 people. These differing reports raise a few questions. Who are these mysterious passengers boarding this missing plane? How are they finding the plane and who is letting them on? Why does the number seem to be doubling every 4 hours?

We spoke with Lost Producer J.J. Abrams to see what his thoughts were on this phenomenon. " I think what we have here is far more than just bad reporting of the facts or people sucking at their job. I do believe that the missing plane's passenger count is doubling  in 4 hour intervals. It is very possible that someone is trying to copy cat the events that occurred on my kick-awesome show. In fact, on Lost we constantly added to the number of passengers that were on the plane as the series went on. So much so that the actual plane we used in the pilot episode would not have actually been capable of fitting all of the added people."

Abrams continues, "This seems to be what's happening here as well, except the person adding the passengers on the plane is God or some alien. Or maybe a ridiculous fusion of the two. It's also possible that people are having babies on board or maybe there is some odd cloning machine that is being utilized on the plane." Abrams interrupted the interview to write down what he just said to use as a pilot for a new show.

"At this rate in the next 8 hours the number of passengers will be at 74. My heart goes out to all the people on that flight, and the ones to soon be added to it, because its going to get extremely uncomfortable for them."

We asked Abrams why he thought this was happening and he told us,"I don't know, but what I do know is that  is one crazy flight demonstration those people are flying on."

Update 8 hours later: The number of people on the plane is now said to have been 48. J.J Abrams, like when he decided to produce Alcatraz, was wrong again.
